About Me

Entepreneur, researcher and embedded computing enthusiast. Currently working on developing IoT systems atWimbiTek (Wimbi Technologies SL) as the Chief Innovation Officer (CINO). Passionate about having all kind of objects and assets connected to the Internet, new IoT network protocolos and its applications for the Industry.

I obtained my Ph.D in Computer Science in the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) at the Egokituz Lab. I researched about the topic of Ubiquitous Computing and Context-Aware Computing with the dissertation entitled: “A Framework for Abstraction and Virtualization of Sensors in Mobile Context-Aware Computing” (2015). [Dissertation][Slides].

My research interest was focused on how the interaction can be enhanced using the context information from different sensor devices using smartphones and the like. I’m also research on the subject of accessibility, specially in the automatic generation of accessible user interfaces.

As part of my thesis dissertation an example application, named ToBITas, was developed and evaluated. It describes a sensor-enhanced control mode for a mobile robotic platform and its application for rehabilitation exercise monitoring. This research was made together with the people of the team BIT of the Instituto Superior Técnico – University of Lisbon (IST-UL). More information about it can be found at the ToBITas section of this website.
